It was gathered that Bisi had been battling with an unconfirmed illness that was said to have kept her in and out of hospital for more than three months. The actress had informed some of her close friends in the industry of her sickness and demanded that she should be taken to Ibadan.
The ailment, according to investigations, started about three months ago when Bisi was said to have been rushed to Ibadan from Lagos by some of her friends and family and was said to have been recuperating in Ibadan after few days.
Some of her colleagues who spoke with the Nigerian Tribune, disclosed that plans were being made by some of her colleagues to raise money for her on Tuesday when they converge on LTV 8 Ikeja for their meeting.
The actress, who some of her colleagues described as an easy-going person, who did not like to be noticed was said to be responding to treatment at UCH few weeks back, but her condition relapsed two weeks ago when her sister, Bunmi, raised the alarm about Bisi’s deteriorating health condition.
Bisi was said to have been moved out of the hospital three weeks ago to an undisclosed church, but had to be rushed back when it was obvious her condition had gone worse. She was said to have taken about 40 units of blood before she finally died on Tuesday morning.
Unconfirmed reports had it that Bisi was few weeks pregnant when the sickness started and was said to have lost the pregnancy as a result of complications arising from her sickness.
Nigerian Tribune, however, gathered from one of Bisi’s close friend that the actress pregnancy had to be terminated at the hospital when her condition got worse.
“Her pregnancy was aborted at the hospital. I don’t want to comment more on that, but that is the truth. I learnt they had to do it to save her life when it appeared she might lose it eventually,” said the source.
The source also said Bisi was secretly engaged to an Epe-born man.
Confirming Bisi’s death to the Nigerian Tribune at Bisis’s family house at Soka in Ibadan, on Tuesday afternoon, nollywood actor who is very close to Bisi’s family, Yinka Quadri, said Bisi called to tell him about her sickness few days to the Ileya festival, saying that he was still shocked to hear that she had died. “I was informed few days to Ileya, but I didn’t hear from her again until two weeks ago when her elder sister, Bukky, called my phone to tell me that Bisi was terribly indisposed and that she needed some units of blood to survive. I was in Ibadan last week Sunday to see her and she was actually looking good on Wednesday when I came back to check her again. We even joked as I left for Lagos that afternoon after spending about 7hrs with her in the hospital. I was shocked when I received the news of her death”.
Nigerian Tribune also gathered that Bisi stayed with her aunt in Ibadan during the period of her sickness and was said to have lost her mother about five years ago. While reacting to Bisi’s demise, her aunt said she was yet to come to terms with the fact that Bisi was dead and had been deposited at the morgue. “I have lost a beautiful girl. I have lost a star that we are all looking up to in the family. Everybody loved her because of her simple lifestyle. She gave me a pink gown few days back that I should wear it today (Tuesday), but I never knew she was telling me she was going to die. I don’t believe she’s dead. I know she can still be raised from the dead,” she said.
Bisi’s sister, Bukky, was also pensive as tears rolled down her face uncontrollably. She said she was with her before she died; saying Bisi never gave up even at the point of death. “I was with her and I never believed she was going to die, I had gone to several churches to pray and I was told that she won’t die. It is painful because she died with many unfulfilled dreams. It is more painful because she died without any child.”
According to Bisi’s aunt’s husband, who gave his name as Daddy Pelumi, the late actress would be buried on Friday, January 4 after the necessary burial arrangements hadbeen concluded. “Her father attends a catholic church and he has told us that she would be given a proper burial at the Catholic Church, Oke Padre, Salvation Army way, Ibadan”.
Some of the nollywood actors and actresses who paid a condolence visit to Bisi’s house on Tuesday include, Yinka Quadri, Muyiwa Ademola, Remi Surutu, Akeem Balogun ( Olasco Films), Adekola Tijani ( Kamilu Compo) Majester,Yomi Fabiyi and others.
